Overhead Lines & HV Cables Design Engineer

OH (Overhead) Lines & HV Cables Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects, including overhead lines and HV cable systems. Ideally, you will have experience on National Grid Projects - sponsorship available and open to additional UK locations. Key Responsibilities: * Design overhead line (OH) and HV cable networks for new or upgraded transmission/distribution projects * Produce detailed engineering drawings, cable routing plans, load calculations, and compliance documentation * Collaborate with project delivery teams — ensuring designs meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines * Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, and project management to ensure smooth hand-over from design to build * Contribute to project planning, risk assessment and quality control Requirements: * Proven experience in HV / OH lines / high-voltage cable network design (transmission or distribution) * Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards, load calculations, and compliance requirements * Proficiency with design and CAD tools used for cable layout, overhead line design, and network diagrams * Excellent communication and coordination skills — ability to liaise between design, management, and onsite teams * Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time, to spec If you are interested in role please apply now
